WORK BOAT WORLD:
Jonas Tegström has been appointed the new CEO of waterjet propulsion supplier Marine Jet Power (MJP). He succeeds interim CEO, Claes Rudling, who will resume his position on the board of directors.
Tegström brings more than 20 years of senior management experience, including strategic development, plan execution and manufacturing expertise. Most recently, he served as the CEO of Orio, the former after sales company of Saab Automobile, where he led a major restructuring.
Tegström is a graduate of Harvard Business School and holds an Master of Science degree in Engineering from Linköping University in Sweden.
Marc Becker is to return to Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) as CEO of the SGRE Offshore business.
Becker served as Managing Director for Germany and Head of Offshore Sales and Projects at Siemens Gamesa before leaving the company in early 2020. He is to be the permanent replacement for Andreas Nauen, who was promoted to CEO of the company in June, and will be based in Hamburg upon formally assuming his new role on February 1, 2021.
Mattias Hellström took up the position of Chief Commercial Officer of Svitzer Europe effective December 1, 2020, reporting to Svitzer Europe's Managing Director, Lise Demant.
Mattias has more than 25 years of experience in shipping and towage, and joined Svitzer Europe in 2014 as Managing Director for Scandinavia. His role expanded to cover Svitzer's operation in Germany in 2017.
During his time as Cluster MD, Mattias managed Svitzer Europe's acquisition of Port Towage Nordic and its recent expansion of line handling services in Bremerhaven and towage services in Emden, Germany.
Before joining Svitzer, Mattias was Sweden Managing Director for MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company. He also currently sits on the Executive Committee of the European Tugowners Association and is a Board Member of the Swedish Sea Rescue Society.
Mattias previously held several regional sales and management positions for Maersk Line, ranging from Director of Customer Service and Sales for Latin America and Chief Finance Officer for Maersk Nordic and Baltic. Mattias started his career in shipping as a management trainee with Maersk, following his undergraduate degree in Economics and Trade from the University of Gothenburg.
Meanwhile, Svitzer has appointed Rutger Thulin as its new Managing Director for the Terminal Towage Cluster in the Americas, spanning Svitzer's operations in Canada, Peru, Costa Rica, Statia, and the Bahamas.
Rutger held different management positions throughout his 14 years with the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. He has been with Svitzer for seven years, and for the past four years, he has been Managing Director for Svitzer Brazil.
Joseph Cardella joins the team of Seattle-based naval architects Elliott Bay Design Group (EBDG) as its new Project Manager. He will lead and manage diverse marine projects along the Gulf Coast, supporting clients with their engineering needs.
Joseph has over 13 years of experience as a naval architect and project engineer within the maritime field. He has design expertise in the offshore maritime industry, developing various mobile offshore drilling units and more recently floating wind turbine concepts for the emerging renewable energy market.
Joseph has a Bachelor of Science in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of New Orleans.
Philipp Maracke took over as CEO of German shipyard Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) effective November 2, 2020.
Philipp has held various management positions in the maritime industry. He was also a member of the management of German Naval Yards Kiel where he built up extensive expertise in the naval shipbuilding sector.
Ki-Jun Park, Managing Director of Jumbo Korea, has handed over the management to Jason Hwang.
Mr Hwang joined Jumbo in 2017. Mr Park, who started Jumbo's Korean office in 1997, will continue as Advisor to the Board.
Chris Johnston will be joining Acteon Group subsidiary InterMoor as group managing director of its global moorings and anchors business headquartered in Houston.
Chris brings with him more than 35 years of domestic and international industry experience from every major oil and gas basin. In his most recent role as a vice president at Valaris, he was responsible for overseeing and leading the North and South Americas team managing a diverse fleet of 29 rigs.
Morten Hasås has joined Kongsberg Digital as Senior Vice President for Maritime Simulation. Previously CEO of Scantech Industries, Morten has held top management positions at ScanSense, Scanmar and Kongsberg Maritime.
Morten's extensive experience in the maritime industry extends over more than three decades.
Danish offshore wind company Floating Power Plant recently welcomed Ulrikke Ekelund to its board of directors.
Ulrikke today holds the position of Senior Vice President, Head of Communication and Media at PensionDenmark, and will, together with the existing board members and senior management, be involved in Floating Power Plant's business development.
Aberdeen-based ship agent and marine logistics company Ffolkes Offshore has appointed Shaun Eardley to its board of directors.
Mr Eardley was the co-owner and managing director of Seletar Shipping prior to its acquisition by Asco Maritime. His experience in shipping and logistics spans over 40 years.
The Board of Directors of Fjord Line has appointed Brian Thorsted Hansen as the company's new CEO.
Brian has extensive business experience and has for the past 14 years worked at the Danish shipping and logistics company DFDS, formerly serving as Vice President and Head of Business Unit Group Passenger.
Brian will have his first day at Fjord Line's head office in Egersund on January 18, 2021, replacing interim CEO Arne Roland.
Dr Cheryl Burgess will join the Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) as chief executive in January 2021. She will take over from Steve Hall who has held the post for the past four years.
Dr Burgess has over three decades' experience in the energy industry including oil and gas (both offshore and onshore), renewables, and utilities. She is the former director general of the Pipeline Industries Guild and is a member of UK Trade and Investment and the Society of British Gas Industries.
Spain's Sener Group has appointed Gabriel Alarcón, up until now General Manager of Technology and Innovation, as Managing Director of Sener Engineering, the area which handles the company's infrastructure, energy and marine activities worldwide.
Alarcón's career in Sener began in 1995, since which time, apart from a brief interval in ALSTOM, he has held various positions of responsibility in technical departments, project management, engineering management and general management, as well as in highly technological fields such as mobility, energy, marine, aeronautics, space, railroads, and automotive.
Alarcón has a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), where for the last 16 years he has worked as an associate professor in Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Postgraduate programs related to Mechanical Engineering, noise and vibrations. He also has a postgraduate degree in General Management from the IESE business school.
BMT has appointed Suba Sivandran as the new Managing Director of BMT Asia.
Mr Sivandran has more than a decade of consulting experience throughout Europe and the Asia Pacific region. He has extensive experience as a principal risk management consultant in several industry sectors, including oil and gas, energy, built environment and major infrastructure.
Mr Sivandran is qualified with a double degree from the University of Western Australia with Bachelors of Engineering and Science, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics. He holds an MBA in Strategy from HEC Paris.
Shivaprakash Rao has been appointed as the new Head of Engineering and Consulting for BMT Asia. He joined the international consultancy's growing Asia office last month. Before this, he was with an international consultancy heading the upstream, midstream and LNG division executing feasibility studies, investment due diligence and economic appraisals while supporting clients in their investment plans and energy transition.
Mr Rao brings nearly 26 years of project development and investment support to his new role. He is a Chemical Engineering graduate from National Institute of Technology Karnataka, India. He is also a PMI certified project management professional and a recipient of an executive MBA in Finance from the Singapore campus of SP Jain's School of Global Management.
Singapore-based M3 Marine Group recently welcomed two new personnel to assume key positions within the company.
Iskandar Amin joins M3 as an offshore shipbroker. He has prior experience in Operations with POSH, and also as a Chartering Manager in MMA Offshore, working with clients in the oil and gas and more recently ventured into the offshore renewables industry.
Iskandar, who has more than 10 years of experience in the maritime industry, possesses a Bachelor of Business in Maritime and Logistics Management from the University of Tasmania (Australian Maritime College).
Mili Chung has joined M3 in the capacity of a Senior Business Analyst. Mili holds a degree in Associated Business Administration in Management and has over 12 years experience in the offshore marine sector with exposure to broking, valuations and commercial operations.
Mili spent nine years with RS Platou and three years with Clarksons Platou.
Carnival Corporation has named Jan Swartz as group president of Holland America Group. She is now responsible for Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn and P&O Australia, as well as Holland America Princess Alaska Tours and inter-group operations.
In 2016, Jan was named as group president of Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia, as well as having executive oversight of the P&O Cruises Australia brand.
Previously, in 2013, she was appointed president of Princess Cruises after more than 12 years working with the cruise line. Prior to this, she served as executive vice president, overseeing the line's sales, marketing and customer service operations, a position held since 2009.
In 2004, Jan served as senior vice president of sales and customer service for both Princess and sister brand Cunard, and in 2001, she was appointed vice president of strategy and business development and worked on the P&O Princess acquisition by Carnival Corporation.
Jan holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Virginia.
Meanwhile, Stein Kruse has been named to a new role as senior advisor to the chairman and to the CEO of Carnival Corporation.
previously served as group CEO of Holland America Group and Carnival UK.
In 2013, Stein was named CEO of Holland America Group, responsible for Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Seabourn and Holland America Princess Alaska Tours. He served as president and CEO of Holland America Line from 2004 to 2013.
Stein joined Holland America Line in 1999 as senior vice president, fleet operations, with overall responsibility for all Holland America Line's operations.
A native of Oslo, Norway, Stein holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and is a graduate of Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program.
Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has confirmed that Christopher D. Kastner, executive vice president and HII's chief financial officer, has been promoted to a new position of executive vice president and chief operating officer. Additionally, Thomas E. Stiehle, vice president and HII's Ingalls Shipbuilding division CFO, has been promoted to executive vice president and CFO and will replace Kastner.
Both Mr Kastner and Mr Stiehle will report directly to HII President and CEO Mike Petters. The changes are effective February 12, 2021.
In Mr Kastner's new role, he will oversee the company's three operating divisions and will work closely with the division presidents to drive execution on HII's historic backlog. Prior to his current position, he served as HII's corporate vice president and general manager, Corporate Development, and was responsible for strategy and development activities.
Before then he served as vice president and CFO for Ingalls Shipbuilding; as vice president, business management, and CFO for Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding-Gulf Coast; and as vice president, contracts and risk management, for Northrop Grumman Ship Systems.
Mr Kastner has a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
In Mr Stiehle's new role, he will be responsible for directing HII's corporate strategy and processes in support of business growth and profitability goals. He will also have responsibility for corporate business management functions, including investor relations, treasury, internal audit, contracts, accounting, financial reporting, planning and analysis, rates and budgets, and mergers and acquisition.
Prior to his current role, Mr Stiehle served as vice president, Contracts and Pricing, for Ingalls and was responsible for estimating, pricing, contract negotiations and administration. Prior to joining HII in 2011, he worked for Northrop Grumman, Aerospace Sector, for 24 years.
Mr Stiehle received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Hofstra University. He also earned an MBA from Adelphi University and a master's in acquisition and contract management from Florida Institute of Technology.
SHIP WORLD:
Associated British Ports (ABP) has appointed Simon Brown as Divisional Port Manager for Wales and South West in ABP's Wales and Short Sea Ports (W&SSP) region.
As part of the W&SSP leadership team, Simon will have responsibility for port activities across all five of ABP's ports in South Wales, in Cardiff, Newport, Barry, Port Talbot and Swansea and ABP's two ports in the South West, in Teignmouth and Plymouth. He will also be working closely with the W.E. Dowds team in South Wales to grow the role of Newport as a major UK port for finished steel.
Before joining ABP in November, Simon served as Port Director Mersey for Peel Ports in Liverpool and prior to that, he had a long career in the shipping industry, working with the Maersk Company between 2006 and 2018. Simon joined P&OCL as a graduate and worked in the UK, Kenya, Hong Kong & Singapore and the USA before Maersk acquired P&O Nedlloyd in 2005.
Trade association InterManager has appointed Mark O'Neil as its new President, succeeding Bjørn Jebsen who has held the position for the past four years..
Mark has years of experience in the global ship management sector. His most recent prior position was that of CEO of Columbia Shipmanagement.
Global marine transport and logistics provider Peters and May has appointed Simon Judson as its new CEO with immediate effect. A 20-year veteran of the marine industry, Simon previously held the position of Global Operations Director with the company.
Simon joined the company in 2009 when Peters and May purchased his own marine logistics and yacht transportation company, Complete Freight.
Based in Peters and May's UK head office, Simon will oversee the company's wide range of services currently delivered through 10 company offices and a network of global agents.
Paul Everley, formerly General Manager for the company's UK division, has been named General Manager for Freight Forwarding. Tom Derbyshire, who joined Peters and May in August 2020 as Group Finance and Commercial Director, will now also head up the company's courier subsidiary, Corporate Express Couriers (CEC), working alongside the CEC team to further develop the business.
In addition to his role as General Manager for the company's Carrier division and Group Legal Counsel, Michael Wood has been appointed the new regional manager for the UK and Dubai with headquarters near Jebel Ali Port.
The World Shipping Council Board of Directors has elected two Co-Chairs of the Board to succeed outgoing Board Chair Ron Widdows. The WSC Board is now being co-chaired by Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd, and Jeremy Nixon, CEO of ONE, serving for an initial two-year term.
Ron Widdows, who has served as the WSC Chairman for over a decade, previously announced his intention to step down once his successor was elected by the newly expanded Board of Directors.
Melwyn Noronha was appointed CEO of Shipping Australia effective January 1, 2021, after an extensive review and selection process.
Before joining Shipping Australia, Captain Melwyn Noronha served at sea and gained his Master Mariner qualification at the Australian Maritime College. He sailed internationally as a master of bulk carriers before moving ashore into maritime administrative and regulatory roles in Federal and State governments.
Mr Noronha takes over the position from Rod Nairn AM, who has led the organisation since 2013.
Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), through its board of directors, has appointed: 1) current President and CEO Junichiro Ikeda as its new Chairman; and 2) EVP and executive officer Takeshi Hashimoto as the new President and CEO.
The effective date of the new positions is April 1, 2021.
Mr Hashimoto has held various leadership positions within MOL since joining the company in 1982 following graduation from Kyoto University. These include appointments as general manager of MOL's LNG Carrier Division, MOL managing executive officer, and MOL senior managing executive officer.
Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation Chief Strategy Officer and Executive Vice President Patrick Tu has taken over as the company's President and Chief Operation Officer.
Mr Tu joined Yang Ming in 1992 and has held a variety of positions with successive responsibility within the company. He has extensive experience in the departments of commercial and strategy development, with broad expertise of business development and liner planning.
Previously, Mr Tu served as Managing Director of Yang Ming Line (Hong Kong).
Steen Brodsgaard Lund has been appointed CEO of maritime risk management and environmental assessment organisation RightShip. He joins the organisation to succeed Martin Crawford-Brunt, who departed RightShip on December 18, 2020.
Steen will be based in Singapore and expand RightShip's global reach from the maritime hub that counts many of its customers.
Steen has over 30 years' experience in the maritime industry. He spent 21 years with A.P Moller Maersk, where he was responsible for the Maersk Line network in the Americas, Oceania, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. He was also the Executive Vice President and Head of Asia Pacific for Germanischer Lloyd, and following the creation of DNV GL in 2013, he returned to Singapore to lead the regional operation of the newly merged company until 2017.
Steen subsequently headed Radio Holland's activities in Asia and since early 2019 served as CCO and CDO at Executive Ship Management. He is also a Council Member of the Singapore Shipping Association where he was Chairman of the Digital Transformation Committee, and as Adjunct Fellow at the MPA Academy where he lectures on technology in the maritime industry.
Andrey Severilov and Evgeny Melnikov have been appointed Chairman and Deputy Chairman, respectively, of the board of directors of Russian transportation company Fesco.
Mr Severilov is a professional investor in industrial and financial assets, a shareholder in CB LOCKO-Bank, Siberian Titan and TomskAzot. He graduated from the prosecutorial and investigative department of the Military University of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
FISHING BOAT WORLD:
The Federation of European Aquaculture Producers (FEAP) has elected Lara Barazi-Yeroulanos as its new President with a term of three years.
Ms Barazi-Yeroulanos is CEO and President of the Board of Greek fish farming company Kefalonia Fisheries. She holds a Master's degree in Public Policy and International Trade and Finance from Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government and a BA in Economics at Columbia University in the US.
Ms Barazi-Yeroulanos has been Vice-President of FEAP since 2018.
