Turkey's Sanmar Shipyards and energy storage systems provider Corvus Energy have entered into a cooperation agreement on the construction of hybrid and battery electric tugs.

The two companies will jointly explore and establish a framework for the future supply and integration of low-emission energy supply systems and fuel cell technology for a wide range of tugs powered by electric and hybrid technology.

The tugs will utilise designs that were developed by Canadian naval architects Robert Allan Ltd.
