Sydney-based company Britton Maritime Systems has been awarded a contract to build 12 new rigid inflatable boats (RIBs) in a series for the Royal Australian Navy.
The AU$9 million (US$6.9 million) contract also includes spare parts, sustainment, training and documentation, as well as options for additional boats.
The RIBs will be used as tenders on the navy's new Cape-class patrol vessels. Each boat will have shock-mitigating seats from Allsalt Maritime and two Mercury Marine 130kW diesel outboard engines.
