Gladding-Hearn to build ninth boat for Virginia Pilot Association

Massachusetts-based Gladding-Hearn Shipbuilding has been awarded a contract to build a new all-aluminium boat for the Virginia Pilot Association.

The vessel will have a length of 55 feet (16.7 metres), a beam of 17 feet (5.2 metres), a draught of four feet (1.2 metres), and two Volvo Penta D13 700hp (522kW) diesel engines that will deliver a top speed of over 32 knots.

It will be the ninth pilot boat to be built by Gladding-Hearn for the Virginia Pilot Association.
