A new lifeboat has been delivered to the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) station at Littlestone in Kent.
The eight-metre boat has been named Jean McIvor in honour of a deceased Middlesex resident.
The RNLI said Ms McIvor's legacy in excess of £600,000 (US$810,600) helped facilitate the purchase of the vessel as well as the upkeep of the Littlestone Lifeboat Station.
Jean McIvor will replace the station's seven-metre lifeboat Fred Clarke. The newer boat boasts a speed of 35 knots, an endurance of three hours, and upgraded electronics including radar and UHF direction finding equipment.
