Lithuanian shipbuilder Western Baltija Shipbuilding (WBS) has begun construction of the hull of a vessel that will eventually be used by the Faroe Islands Marine Research Institute.

The vessel's hull, which measures 54 metres long and 13.7 metres wide, is scheduled to be completed before the summer of 2019.

The hull will then be transported to the Faroe Islands where WBS co-contractor MEST Shipyard will commence final outfitting to include accommodation, machinery, piping, electrical and cable work, deck machinery, and final painting work.

The vessel will be used for fishery and research works at sea.
