Piriou Naval Services, a subsidiary of French shipbuilder Piriou, has been awarded a contract for the construction of a small landing craft that will be deployed aboard an Antarctic research and supply vessel owned by CMA CGM and operated by the Institut Polaire Francais Paul-Emile Victor (IPEV).

The landing craft will aid the research vessel Marion Dufresne II in supplying the French Southern and Antarctic Lands (Terres australes et antarctiques françaises; TAAF) overseas territory.

Delivery of the new support vessel is scheduled for August 2022.
