Philippine operator Starlite Ferries has acquired a Ro-Pax vessel formerly owned by Trans-Asia Shipping Lines (TASLI), its sister company under the Chelsea Logistics Group.

The 1975-built Asia Philippines was operated under the name Orange Star by local company Aleson Shipping Lines until it was acquired by TASLI in 1994. The vessel was then used on TASLI's Cebu-Iloilo and Cebu-Iligan routes before its handover to Starlite earlier this year.

Asia Philippines measures 67.2 by 14.2 metres and can transport 532 passengers. The ferry has already begun serving Starlite's Batangas-Calapan route.
