Turkey's Ozata Shipyard has launched the 62-car, 1,500-passenger Ro-Pax Jambo for the Kenya Ferry Service, the first of a pair. The vessel is a modern, highly manoeuvrable ferry with two steerable rudder propeller units, mounted diagonally for better manoeuvring.
The propulsion system consists of two IMO Tier II compliant main engines, which can be started both by compressed air and electrical start systems. The thrusters are installed close to the midship to protect them from damage.
A full review of Jambo will appear in the September issue of Work Boat World magazine.
