Shipyard De Hoop delivers expedition ship Silver Origin

Shipyard De Hoop handed over the expedition ship Silver Origin to Monaco-based Silversea Cruises in a ceremony in Rotterdam on Wednesday, June 3.

Designed with the cooperation of Dutch naval architecture firm Cor D. Rover, the LR-classed newbuild has an LOA of 110 metres, a moulded beam of 17 metres, a design draught of 4.5 metres, capacity for 102 guests as well as 87 crew and onboard staff, and two 2,1450kW IMO Tier III-compliant engines that deliver a maximum speed of 15 knots.

The vessel also comes equipped with a DP system and deck space for rigid inflatable boats (RIBs).

Silver Origin will sail on Silversea's Galapagos Islands itineraries.
