United Shipbuilding Corporation's (USC) Baltic Shipyard has handed over the non-self-propelled floating nuclear power station Akademik Lomonosov to local nuclear power firm Rosenergoatom Concern.

The 144- by 30-metre vessel is presently undergoing preparations for its delivery voyage from Murmansk to Pevek in Russia's Far East, which is scheduled to commence on August 23 this year. It will take over the power generating responsibility of Pevek's now-decommissioned Chaun-Bilibinsky nuclear power plant.

Originally laid down in 2007, Akademik Lomonosov became Russia's first floating nuclear power plant upon its completion in 2018.
