Huntington Ingalls Industries' (HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division has launched the tenth Legend-class national security cutter ordered by the US Coast Guard.

The 418-foot (127-metre) cutter is scheduled to be christened at Ingalls Shipbuilding's facilities in Pascagoula, Mississippi, in June 2022. It will be named in honour of Charles L. Calhoun, who became the first Master Chief Petty Officer of the US Coast Guard in 1969.

The future Calhoun will be delivered to the coast guard in early 2023.
