Russia's Sredne-Nevsky Shipbuilding Plant has been selected by the country's Arctic Directorate for Technical Support of Marine Surveillance to build a new workboat optimised for use in Arctic waters.
The 20-metre vessel will perform duties including environmental monitoring, hydrographic surveys, pilot transfers, and search and rescue.
The workboat will have a steel hull and a composite superstructure. Its draught will be just under one metre even at full load while power will be provided by two 599kW engines.
Delivery is scheduled for December 2022.
