Irish fisherman Eric Murphy and his family will soon welcome a new trawler into their fleet.

Built locally by Mooney Boats to a design by Vestværftet of Denmark, Eilean Croine is a sister vessel of Sparkling Star, which was completed and delivered to another owner in 2023. Both vessels will be operated out of Castletownbere in County Cork, mainly performing pelagic trawling, though they may also be configured for demersal trawling for whitefish.

Like its sister, Eilean Croine has an LOA of 31 metres, a beam of 8.7 metres, and an ABC 6DZC main engine driving a propeller via a Nogva Heimdal gearbox. Also fitted are a Scania DI09 auxiliary engine and a Deutz generator.

The Ker Group supplied the RSW system and the vessel's other catch handling and chilling equipment. The winches were meanwhile provided by SeaQuest.

Construction of Eilean Croine's hull took place in Poland. The vessel was then transported to Killybegs for completion at Mooney Boats' Killybeg facilities.
