Canadian Coast Guard taps Ontario shipyard for icebreaker refit

Heddle Shipyards of Hamilton, Ontario, has been awarded a contract for undertaking vessel life extension works on one of the icebreakers in the Canadian Coast Guard fleet.

The work on the 1978-built CCGS Amundsen will commence before the end of November 2021 and will conclude in June 2022.

The estimated value of the refit is CA$12 million (US$9.4 million).
