From Baird Maritime:

A very attractive, beguiling but eccentric book, it's a classic "coffee table" work that is still a very interesting and informative read. Most unusual.

Beautifully produced in the usual Conway Maritime manner, the book benefits from a well-educated and cultured author/editor. It also includes the work of some of the world's best marine photographers.

Essentially, following an introduction describing the history of marine photography, it comprises a large number of photographic vignettes of marine "celebrities", both contemporary and historic.

Obviously, the selection of such a long list of celebrities could be the subject of considerable argument. There is no doubt that some will be long forgotten in a decade or two. They are also, probably, rather too north Atlantic centric. Nevertheless, they are mostly interesting and that, surely, is the point.

Beautifully photographed, magnificently presented and crisply written. Quality throughout!
