AQUA Exploracion, a subsea inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) operator based in Mexico, has placed an order for a new work-class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) from unmanned systems specialist Forum Energy Technologies.

The craft will complement and expand the operator's existing capabilities and will be used to enhance subsea exploration, inspection, and intervention operations in challenging environments.

The ROV has advanced features and a robust design, making it ideal for tasks such as pipeline inspections, underwater structural assessments, seabed mapping, and deep-sea equipment installation and maintenance. The craft's versatility allows for efficient deployment in various underwater projects, ranging from offshore oil and gas exploration to renewable energy installations like offshore wind farms.

The ROV has a 2,000-metre depth rating. Ancillary tools and sensors can also be added to the vehicle for survey and light intervention work.

The ROV is also equipped to a high specification with a seven-function manipulator arm for complex underwater procedures.

Following construction at FET's UK facilities, the ROV will undergo thorough refurbishment and re-testing before being handed over to the client.
