The first of two new 19-metre high-speed patrol boats in a series has been handed over to the Royal Navy.

The future HMS Cutlass was designed by BMT and built by the Marine Specialised Technology Group (MST Group) for use specifically by the Royal Navy's Gibraltar Squadron. The boat recently completed sea trials will undergo further testing by navy crews before it is formally commissioned into service.

Cutlass and sister boat HMS Dagger, due to be delivered in the spring of 2022, will replace HMS Sabre and HMS Scimitar. The two older vessels will be retired next year after providing nearly two decades of service with the Gibraltar Squadron.
