The Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has christened its newest containership 'MSC Sveva', at Haropa's Le Havre Port in France.
'Sveva' is the latest addition to the Oscar-class of containerships. Released in October 2015 by Korean shipybuilder Daewoo, it measures 395 metres by 59 metres, has a draught of 16 metres and a capacity of 19,224TEU.
'Sveva' is LNG ready and is specially equipped with a new generation engine, the G95, with low fuel consumption and reduced CO2 emissions.
The vessel's reduced emissions output puts it ahead of the 2025 compliance regulations for cargo vessel newbuilds.
