San Diego-based Pacific Tugboat Service (PTS) has completed its refit of the former push tug American River.

Built for Crowley Marine at Colburg Shipyard, the multipurpose vessel, renamed Patriot Tier III, has a shallow draught, a model bow and tow winch for inland towing and occasional ship assist.

The refit included the completion of crew amenities and systems, final painting and US Coast Guard Inspection before it was commissioning in the PTS Fleet.

Featuring 1,043kW of power, Patriot Tier III is a twin-screw push tug with anchor-handling capabilities, crew quarters and 360-degree-view wheelhouse.
