Nibulon 100, a new multipurpose seagoing tug built by Nibulon Shipbuilding and Repair Yard, performed a water show for the crowds at the 229th anniversary of the Southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv on September 8.

Launched on May 23, Nibulon 100 is the newest in a series of multi-purpose ice-breaking tugs capable of operating under conditions of ice thickness of up to 60 centimetres.

It is the first vessel of its class that has been launched in the country in 13 years.

The tug is intended for escorting foreign going vessels along the Buh-Dnipro-Lyman Channel (BDLC), mooring, escorting convoys of non-self-propelled vessels (from two to four units), and escorting convoys along the channels during ice conditions in the Dnipro River and the Black Sea.

Nibulon 100 is capable of towing vessels with a displacement of 50,000 to 70,000 tonnes. Two deluge guns enable the tug to discharge a water stream of 375 cubic metres per hour with a water stream length of 100 metres, thus allowing it to put out fires both on and off shore.
