Towage company Kotug has established a new inland shipping division to provide electric-powered pusher tugs and smart AI-driven dispatch and route planning applications for customers in the Dutch inland water transportation industry.
The division formally began operations recently by providing tug services in the city of Leiden in South Holland. A 5.5-metre electric-powered tug was deployed to provide a zero-emission alternative for heavy truck transport.
The tug is being operated by Kotug Citybarge, a partnership of Kotug and transport company Circle Line Logistics.
