Island Tug and Barge of Burnaby, British Columbia, has christened Island Regent, the second of two tugs it has ordered from US-based Nichols Brothers Boat Builders.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed tug has a length of 24 metres, a beam of 12.5 metres, and twin Cummins KTA38M 634kW engines that deliver a speed of 10 knots at full load.

Island Regent will be paired with the barge ITB Reliant to form an articulated tug and barge (ATB) for use in transporting petroleum products.
