American shipbuilder Main Iron Works has completed construction of the first of three 2,000kW towboats in a series ordered by Kirby Inland Marine.
The Sterling Marine-designed vessel, which has been named Bailey, has a length of 26 metres, a width of 10 metres, a draught of 2.7 metres, accommodations for up to eight crew and passengers, and two Caterpillar 3512C 1,000kW diesel engines.
Bailey will be used to help transport petrochemicals, refined products, oils, and liquid fertilisers.
