Turkey's Directorate General of Coastal Safety (DGCS) has taken delivery of a new rescue tug from local builder Uzmar Shipyard.

The 30- by 13-metre Kurtarma-13 ("Rescue-13") is the first in a series of two that will be used primarily for towing duties, salvage assistance, search and rescue (SAR) missions, and safety patrols in Turkish waters. Two diesel engines deliver a bollard pull of 80 tonnes.

The newbuild utilises a tug design developed by Robert Allan Ltd.

Sister vessel Kurtarma-14 recently began undergoing trials at Uzmar's facilities.
