Turkish coastal safety directorate welcomes new escort tug to fleet

The Turkish Directorate General of Coastal Safety (DGCS) has taken delivery of a new ASD escort and emergency response tug from local builder Sanmar Shipyards.

The Robert Allan Ltd-designed Kurtarma 15 ("Rescue 15") measures 29.4 by 13.3 metres and is powered by two MTU 16V4000 2,100kW main engines that drive Schottel propellers to deliver a bollard pull in excess of 90 tonnes. A crew of ten are comfortably housed in MLC-compliant accommodations that include a mess/lounge area, a separate galley, and single and four-person cabins.

The deck equipment includes a Palfinger hydraulic knuckle boom/folding boom crane.
