Singapore's PSA Marine has ordered three custom-designed harbour towage tugs from Hong Kong shipyard Cheoy Lee to add to its fleet.
Cheoy Lee will build the Robert Allan-designed tugs for PSA Marine and for South China Towing Co, its joint venture with Mitsui OSK Lines and Tokyo Kisen Co.
The 27.4-metre tugs will have 50 tonnes of bollard pull, an 11.5-metre beam and 5.2-metre depth.
The hull design and deck layout combines advantages of modern azimuth stern drive tugs and tractor tugboat designs.
Construction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2018.
PSA Marine already operates 12 tugs from the series.
