Tuzla Shipyard subsidiary Navtek Naval Technologies is building a battery-powered, all-electric tug for GISAS Shipbuilding.
The vessel will be powered by a Corvus Orca energy storage system with an energy storage capacity of 1,500kW, which will provide power for two Siemens propulsion motors driving conventional propulsion system through ABB thrusters and drive systems, integrated by Turkey's BMA Technology.
The tug will be delivered in early 2019 and will operate primarily in Istanbul harbour.
