The keel of Seattle-based Foss Maritime's newest ASD tug has been laid in a ceremony at Nichols Brothers Boat Builders' (NBBB) facility in Freeland, Washington.

The vessel is the first unit of a firm order for four tugs, plus options for an additional six, placed by Foss with NBBB.

Designed by Jensen Maritime Consultants, the 30- by 12-metre vessels will meet IMO Tier IV standards by using high-efficiency catalytic after-treatment technology to reduce emissions.

Delivery of the first four tugs is scheduled to begin in the winter of 2020.
