Gdansk shipyard launches new Polish Navy minehunter, tug

Remontowa Shipbuilding of Gdansk, Poland, has launched a new mine countermeasures vessel (MCMV) and a new tug for the Polish Navy.

The future ORP Mewa ("Seagull") is the final one of three Kormoran II-class MCMVs. It will be armed with a 35-millimetre cannon and will be capable of deploying a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) and a towed sonar.

The tug, which will be named Przemko, is the final one in a series of six ordered by the navy. Its duties will include towing, escort, and search and rescue.
