German operator purchases Med Marine tug

Med Marine has sold a 32-metre ASD tug to German company J. Johannsen and Sohn.

The vessel was designed by Robert Allan Ltd and was built at Ereğli Shipyard, a group company of Med Marine.

The tug has an 11.6-metre beam, 4.19-metre draught and 476.2 gross tonnage.

The vessel utilises two Caterpillar 3516C D Rating diesel engines that develop a total output of 4,200kW with a free sailing speed of 12 knots and bollard pull of 74 tonnes.

The fire-fighting pumps are driven by main engines. Two pumps can deliver approximately 2600m3/h at 110mwc. SEC Groningen supplied electric frequency controlled anchor and towing winch for chain 20.5mm U2 with one chain and electric frequency controlled aft towing winch with one towing drum.
