Following a competitive tender process, Egyptian government-owned shipping firm Giza Company for Water and Wastewater (GCWW) has awarded Port Said-based Mohamed R. Eissa Company a contract to build a new inland tanker barge that will transport purified water sourced from the Nile River.

The steel-hulled, 20- by six-metre vessel will have capacity for 60 cubic metres of water and will be powered by a Baudouin 6W105M 137kW engine that will deliver a speed of five knots.

The vessel is scheduled to be delivered within five months of the contract signing between GCWW and the builder.
