Canadian shipowner McAsphalt Marine Transportation has placed an order for a new bitumen tanker with China's Wuhu Shipyard.

The vessel will be designed by Swedish naval architects FKAB Marine Design to be capable of transporting bitumen and asphalt simultaneously through the use of independent cargo tanks. Its area of operations will be the Great Lakes.

Power will be provided by a pair of four-stroke, dual-fuel main engines that can operate on either LNG or liquefied biogas (LBG).
