Norwegian shipping and logistics company Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) has signed a 25-year concession agreement with Belgium's Port of Zeebrugge to develop 49 hectares within the inner port.

The concession until 2043 for the Bastenaken West property allows WWL to double its terminal footprint at the world's largest Ro-Ro port.

President Ray Fitzgerald said WWL plans to invest US$20 million during the next two to three years.

The Port of Zeebrugge handled 2.8 million units of cargo in 2017, aided by its network of deep-sea, short-sea and inland transportation connections.
