The on-again off-again strike at the COSCO Pacific terminal at Piraeus, the largest container port in Greece, is on again as dockers staged another 48-hour strike at Piers 11 and 111 to protest the presence of the terminal operator its plans to cut jobs.

After a cooling off period, the dockers relaunched their strike, demanding an end to COSCO's 35-year concession at the container terminal. They also accused the recently elected leftist government of failing to provide employment safeguards at the port.

The union staged an earlier strike last month that shut down the container terminal for more than two weeks. The strike is one of a number this year, including a refusal, ongoing since April, to work on weekends.
