Norwegian Cruise Line and Miami-Dade County have conducted a ground-breaking ceremony at PortMiami to marking the start of construction for the new terminal.

The terminal is scheduled for completion by the northern autumn of 2019, when Breakaway Plus-class vessel Norwegian Encore debuts in Miami.

The 15,468-square-metre terminal will accommodate ships of up to 5,000 passengers and feature technology to support faster and more efficient embarkation and disembarkation, and expedited security screening and luggage check-in.

A dedicated lounge and service area will offer a warm and welcoming arrival for guests, and a new parking garage and valet parking area with direct access to the terminal will streamline the entire arrival and departure process for more efficiency.

The terminal has been designed by Bermello Ajamil and Partners.
