A new inland LNG tanker slated for Belgian operator Somtrans recently completed sea trials and will soon be handed over to its new owner.

The hull of the 135- by 18-metre Swiss LNG 1 was designed and built by Netherlands-based RensenDriessen Shipbuilding. Final outfitting took place at the facilities of RensenDriessen's partner company, De Gerlien van Tiem.

The vessel's design was made specifically to sail in ultra shallow water.

Once in service with Somtrans, Swiss LNG 1 will be deployed on the Rhine.
