Singapore shipbuilder Keppel Offshore and Marine (Keppel O&M) has delivered Russia's first LNG bunkering vessel to Gazprom Neft.

Designed by Keppel O&M, the newbuild has been named Dmitry Mendeleev after a famed Russian chemist and inventor. It has Arc4 and ice class 1A notation from both Bureau Veritas and the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, meaning the hull is optimised for independent ice navigation in medium first-year summer ice of up to 0.9 metres thickness.

The vessel also has a length of 100 metres, a beam of 19 metres, and a total cargo capacity of 5,800 cubic metres. An integrated digital system allows the vessel to be managed by just one person from the navigation bridge.

Construction of Dmitry Mendeleev took place at Keppel Nantong Shipyard in China. The ship will provide transportation and bunkering of low-tonnage LNG fuel at ports in the Gulf of Finland and the Baltic Sea including Saint Petersburg, Ust-Luga, and Primorsk.
