Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) has entered into a sales and purchase agreement with Total to acquire the French company's shares in ship management firm Gazocean.

Based in Marseille and responsible for the management of six LNG carriers – including Gas Agility (pictured), the world's largest LNG bunkering vessel – Gazocean is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of NYK.

NYK and Total held ownership of Gazocean at 80 and 20 per cent of shares, respectively, prior to the acquisition.
