Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) has placed an order for two LPG dual-fuel very large gas carriers (VLGCs) to be built by Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI).
NYK said the vessels' exhaust will have 85 per cent fewer SOx emissions and 15 per cent fewer CO2 emissions compared to similarly sized VLGCs with conventional fuel oil engines.
Delivery of the ships is scheduled for 2022. Each will have an LOA of approximately 230 metres, a beam of 37.2 metres, a summer draught of 11.6 metres, and a total cargo capacity of 86,500 cubic metres.
