A new floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) has been delivered to Texas-based Excelerate Energy.

Built by South Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), Excelerate Sequoia has a storage capacity of 173,400 cubic metres and is capable of operating as both an FSRU and a fully tradable LNG carrier.

The vessel joins nine other DSME-built FSRUs currently sailing in the Excelerate fleet.

In September of last year, Excelerate and Greece's Maran Gas Maritime (MGM) signed a five-year bareboat charter agreement for the FSRU. Excelerate will have the option to purchase the vessel during the five-year charter.
