United Kingdom-based Flex LNG successfully has taken delivery of its first LNG carrier newbuilding Flex Endeavour from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in preparation for its time charter.

Flex Endeavour is a 173,400-cubic-metre cargo capacity LNG carrier equipped with the MEGI propulsion system.

She is one of six newbuildings under construction at DSME and Samsung Heavy Industries.

Sister vessel Flex Enterprise is scheduled for delivery on January 11.

Flex Endeavour is expected to begin its 15-to-18-month time charter with German-based Uniper Global Commodities as soon as crew mobilisation and safety drills are complete.

"The deal will provide Flex LNG with full utilisation of the vessel from day one without idle time or costs normally associated with the maiden voyage for a newbuild LNG carrier," said Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Cook.
