COSCO Marine Energy has christened four new icebreaking LNG tankers that will serve the Yamal LNG project.

The tankers have been named Nikolay Yevgenov, Vladimir Voronin, Georgiy Ushakov, and Yakov Gakkel. All four vessels honour Soviet Arctic explorers and are being built at South Korea's Yupu Shipyard.

Each ship has an LOA of 299 metres, a beam of 50 metres, and a total cargo tank capacity of 174,000 cubic metres.

The tankers are expected to enter service before the end of the year.
