China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and COSCO Shipping have entered into agreements with China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) for the construction of three new LNG carriers in a series.
Each vessel will have a total cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic metres, an LOA of 295 metres, and a moulded beam of 45 metres. Each will also be fitted with a dual-fuel engine that will deliver a speed of 19.5 knots.
This order for three LNG carriers follows an earlier newbuilding contract for three 174,000-cubic-metre ships that CNPC and COSCO awarded to CSSC in June 2021.
