Wallenius Lines and Swedish Orient Line (SOL) have established Wallenius SOL, a new joint venture shipping company that will transport forestry products and other goods in a network covering the Gulf of Bothnia, the Baltic Sea, and the North Sea.
The joint venture will operate a fleet of specially designed LNG-powered vessels built to Finnish/Swedish ice class 1A Super to ensure service even under winter weather conditions.
The Wallenius SOL fleet will initially consist of five vessels but will eventually be increased to nine following the expected delivery of four newbuilds in 2021.
