Greek shipowner Seanergy Maritime has entered into a definitive agreement with an unaffiliated third party to purchase a capesize vessel.

The vessel, which will be renamed Dukeship, was built in 2010 at an unnamed shipyard in Japan. It has a cargo-carrying capacity of approximately 181,500 DWT.

Dukeship is scheduled to be delivered by November 2021. The transaction remains subject to the satisfaction of certain customary closing conditions.

Following the delivery, Seanergy's fleet will increase to 17 Capesize vessels with an aggregate cargo capacity exceeding three million DWT.

In addition, the Seanergy has recently completed the sale and delivery of its oldest Capesize vessel, the 2001-built Leadership (pictured), to its new owners.
