Swedish family-owned shipping company Wallenius Marine and Danish naval architects Knud E. Hansen have entered into an agreement wherein the latter company will join a project that will design a new wind-powered Ro-Ro vessel.

Knud E. Hansen claims the vessel will be the world's first wind-powered Ro-Ro vessel. Once completed, it will have capacity for 7,000 vehicles as well as breakbulk cargo and a propulsion system that will utilise wind as the main propulsion.

The vessel will be capable of reaching speeds of up to 12 knots. The speed can be increased with the aid of a supplemental power system.
