Swedish transport operator Wallenius Lines and international logistics specialist Greencarrier will establish a new maritime connection that will carry freight between Södertälje, Sweden and Gdynia, Poland, via the Baltic Sea.

The two companies formed and will jointly own the recently launched business Lakeway Link with the aim of offering maritime freight transport as an alternative to trailers to help ease vehicular traffic between continental Europe and central Sweden.

The route will be served by the Ro-Ro vessel Lakeway Express, which features a shallow draught to facilitate safe transits through Lake Mälaren in Sweden. The tentative schedule covers three departures each week in both directions with each journey taking less than 24 hours.

Lakeway Link will commence its Södertälje-Gdynia service on Tuesday, May 21.
