Knud E. Hansen designs LNG-powered Ro-Ros for Wallenius-SOL

Knud E. Hansen has designed a new series of LNG-powered ultra-large Ro-Ro vessels for the newly established Swedish company Wallenius-SOL.

Up to four vessels have been ordered at Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore, China, for which Knud E. Hansen will provide the engineering package for the construction and approval by classification and flag state authorities.

The 1A Super ice-classed vessels will have a length of about 242 metres, a beam of 35.2 metres, a speed of 20 knots, a freight capacity of 5,800 lane metres, and a deadweight of about 27,000 tonnes. During port calls the vessels will run on green electricity from shore connections or LNG.
