India's Cochin Shipyard has laid the keels of two new autonomous electric-powered Ro-Ro vessels ordered from the company by Norwegian shipowner Asko Maritime.

Designed by Naval Dynamics Norway according to DNV class rules, the newbuildings will each measure 67 metres long and have capacity for 16 fully loaded standard EU trailers. Propulsive power will be drawn from 1,846kWh battery packs.

The vessels will be operated by Massterly, a joint venture between Kongsberg Maritime and Wilhelmsen.
